What is Wellbeing Wednesday?
Wellbeing Wednesday is a preventative, proactive approach to ensure that students have the tools to manage their wellbeing and know how to ask for help when it is needed.
Year Advisers meet once a term to examine Sentral data to determine themes or topics which require attention in Wellbeing Wednesday lessons. Lessons are then designed or modified to meet the needs of students. Themes include setting high expectations, resolving conflict, diversity and racism, being respectful, growth mindset, goal setting, bullying, cybersafety, resilience, study skills, etc.
Wellbeing Wednesday lessons teach our students the expected social behaviour in school and the community. The lessons incorporate the school’s PBL matrix, PBL values, and approaches to mobile phone use, laptop use and online learning. The lesson also address key themes throughout the year. It helps students understand what our expectations are in different settings and different situations. The program is delivered to all students.
Wellbeing Wednesday incorporates guest speakers and presenters such as Elevate Education, the Police Youth Liaison Officer, HeadSpace, Digital Insight, etc.
Assemblies are part of Wellbeing Wednesday where PBL values and themes are reinforced.
